'Archaeology without antiquity' - a paper by Assaf Nativ and Gavin Lucas (2020)

The authors pose the question - does archaeology have to be about the past? They argue that antiquity need not be sole the focus of archaeology. The material culture of the recent and contemporary past, and indeed the unfolding present, is also of great interest . The archaeosphere is discussed as an example of 'archaeology without antiquity', Great paper, but I think they are only half[right on that point. My thoughts are that it is important not to relinquish the notion of antiquity entirely in the study of the archaeosphere, which has both ancient and modern evidence, often in the same stratigraphic successions. It needs to be considered in its totality.

'More than antiquity: how archaeologists see' - a paper by Ralph Greenberg (2023)

Greenberg prefers the phrase 'more than antiquity' instead of 'without antiquity'. He notes that, while much of it is ancient, "the proportion of materials in the archaeosphere produced in the last 100 years outweighs everything that came before it in millions of years of human existence" and that this material needs archaeologists to study it just as much as the older stuff. On this he concurs with Nativ and Lucas, except without letting go of the notion of antiquity completely. For all that much of it the archaeosphere is modern, parts of it really are ancient. It requires a focus on antiquity/ancient deposits as much as a focus on the modern period/contemporary deposits, and vice-versa.
